Abstract

Images; İs helping to restructure knowledge as a source of knowledge, without attracting the attention of the student, motivating the student, giving student tips, and asking questions, giving feedback to the student, learning. Besides visual language being privileged and easily perceivable according to written narration, visualization is a form of easy perception and expression for people. Visual literacy definitions that visual literacy is a comprehensive ability that can enhance an individual effectively for learning and teaching purposes. Beginning from the preschool, there should be an environment in which students can improve their visual literacy skills so that they can enhance themselves better. The study is screening model. The data of the research is gained through the “vısual lıteracy” scale developed by Kiper vd. (2012). The data acquired in the research was analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 21.0 programme. The level for the visual literacy proficiency of the students participating in the research were generally found to be "high"; it has been seen that the scale of the visual literacy proficiency used is predominantly directed towards low- level visual literacy skills. The results for visual skills in the metacognitive skills level in PISA tests show that these skills can be developed at a low- level. The visual literacy of the teachers needs to sufficiently in order for the students to have sufficiently visual literacy skills. Correspondingly, it is very important that the visual literacy of the teacher candidates is at a sufficiently. Teachers with visual literacy proficiency are expected to educational process a more effective and productive teaching process while transferring these skills to their students.
