The aim of this study is to determine the existance, definition, content, properties, stages of learner autonomy and the features related to learner autonomy. Another aim of the study is to raise awareness about the learner autonomy in our country. In consequence of literature review upon learner autonomy; the existance of learner autonomy, its becoming an important feature in education, the definition of it, its content, properties, principles, stages and related features are presented and also learner autonomy is tried to determine comprehensively. With this study; we achieve the results such as learner autonomy is becoming a content which takes attentions on; it has become a part and an aim of general education and defined as learner’s taking learning responsibility with all aspects which is gained to learners by definite principles and steps; it is perceived as an important skill for learners and it is related with the teacher autonomy, motivation and attitude.
