Abstract

The narrators of the ‘’Pomegranate Tree’’ of Nazan Bekiroğlu, published in 2012 and of the ‘’But,Love Should Survive’’ of Ali Arslan, published in 2003 chase their own origin and the emigrational fate of their predecessors. In these two novels, the life story of the protogonists, who had to leave their homes from the West to the East, and from the East to the West, has been emphasized. The emigration route of the hero in the ‘’Pomeranate Tree’’ starts from Tabriz in Iran, following Tbilisi, Bakı, Batumi and Trabzon. However, the hero in ‘’But, Love Should Survive’’ starts his route from the Linden District of Hannover, ends in the Seki Village of the Aegean Region of Anatolia, following Palestine. The Russian invasion, the First World War, the War of Independencein Anatolia are all in the background of these novels. During this immigration adventure, the identity of the immigrants is divided, broken and they feel to find another identity(Sarup,1996:6). In this sense, the love of Hans to Sofia, and of Settarhan to Zehra functions as an existentialist approach
