Abstract

Ottoman poetry began to show changes in form and content from the 17th century onwards, and these changes reached the highest level in the 18th century. There are defined rules and traditions of the traditionalist Ottoman poetry. These rules and traditions have been effective in the structure and shape of the poem's content. Traditionalist Ottoman poet remained under the influence of Iranian poetry in the period when effective in the classic style. The first sign of recovery from this effect has shown itself with Nef'i. Nef'i changed the patterns of traditional poetry. Particularly, the changes he made in the form of the ode have been adopted by poets who came after him. Then Nabi with a different style and content has made great strides in changing the traditionalist poetry. But, in the real sense in the 18th century Nedim opposed to the traditionalist Ottoman poetry. The opposition's Nedim is for the imaginary world of traditionalist poetry. Nedim has expressed at every opportunity that the imaginary world of traditionalist poetry needs to change. Nedim has reflected the real-life scenes so vividly with colloquial language in his poetry. Nedim has used a style known as the native/folkloric style to make innovations in the Ottoman poetry. Nedim’s -muş sana rhymed ghazal that showing his attitude of the against to the traditionalist Ottoman poetry is analyzed in this article. Nedim’s attitude towards the traditionalist poetry is a cynical attitude. His cynical attitude is opposed to the imaginary world of the traditionalist poetry.
