Perspectives of Learners of French as a Foreign Language With Regard to Written Expression Perspectives des Apprenants de Français Langue Étrangère à l’Égard de l’Expression Écrite
In this study, we will deal with the views of learners on written production in a French as a foreign language (FFL) class for an audience of beginners or false beginners. For this aim, we conducted a survey on students in the FFL Department at Uludag University in Bursa in Turkey. This was carried out during the first semester of the 2011-2012 academic year with volunteer students. In the questionnaire, we asked the learners to give their opinions, in their mother tongue, on the teaching of written expression in FFL. Following content analysis, we will describe the way in which the views of the learners differ regarding this skill. Our aim is to observe the position of students in terms of writing, students emerging from the new generation which no longer wishes to commit itself to such a skill, since it lives in the computer age where only symbols are sufficient for communication.
