Abstract

Istanbul is a natural capital city in terms of its location, which has been the source of inspiration for innumerable poets who nurtured Ottoman cultures for centuries. When we consider the situation in this context, it is not a coincidence that Istanbul is also the center of culture and literature. In fact, most of the poets have grown up in Istanbul for centuries except for the leading exceptions when they are regarded as the poet of the period (Isen 2000: 3). One of these poets is Nihad Bey. Nihad, born in 1214/1799 in Istanbul, is the son of Said Siret Bey, the granddaughter and poet of Şerif Pasha, governor of Habesh and Jeddah. Şerif Paşa-zade and the poet of Mîr, died in 1286/1869 in Istanbul / Kanlıca. As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the divan belonging to Nihad Bey had two copies, one of which was printed and one was printed. In these two copies, it is seen that there are different gazelles with common gazelles. In this work, it is aimed to give information about Nihad Bey's life and to introduce the divan in the light of biographical sources and poems
