In the preparation of Turkish Teaching Program, thematic approach which includes studies such as thinking, understanding, questioning, reviewing, searching, discovering, associating with daily life and consideration, is adopted. With reference to thematic approach, the themes which are obligatory and optional are determined in Turkish Lesson Teaching Program. In Turkish Teaching Program (MEB, 2006: 60), the themes (in 6. Grade “Love”, 7. Grade “National Culture” and 8. Grade “Community Life” ) are stated as obligational main themes. The aim of this study is to examine and assess the texts that’s theme “Community Life” in MEB publication 8. Grade Turkish Course Book and TAV publication 8. Grade Turkish Course Book, in terms of vocabulary. For that purpose, vocabulary elements such as idioms, combined verbs, reduplication, metaphor, term, proverb, mimetic word, routine and proper noun, of texts which have community life theme are stated and assessed. According to findings from this study, it is possible to talk about convenience between vocabulary and content of texts in community life theme. The vocabulary elements of texts are enough to reflect the text’s content comes to the conclusion.
