Tanzimat reform era is being accepted as beginning of children’s literature in our country while it was emerged earlier period in the West. In order to develop this literature healthfully that may be said relatively new field, it is necessary that educators, academicians, writers of children’s book and those concerned should work together consciously and systematically. It has not been come a long way in developing of children’s literature until today in Turkey because of working independent of each other. About solving this issue, non-governmental organizations which have power to gather unrelated people and organization and can create public opinion, come to the front. In this paper, Çocuk Vakfı, one of few non-governmental organizations carrying out works to improve children’s literature in our country, is handled, aims and activities related to children’s literature are mentioned and contributions of these activities to the progress of children’s literature are tried to be evaluated.
