Signature is defined to be a name or symbol that is put above the letter in order to certify the owner and content of the writing (Öksüz, 1989, p. 29). Several fields of science deal with the signature that can be regarded as the permanent mark of human being. However, any research has not been found in the literature that deals with the primary education age that is regarded as the period in which the ability of signing is acquired. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify the signature knowledge of the primary school students. In this regard, the data have been collected by means of "Signature Knowledge Evaluation Form" that has been filled by the students of the schools that were determined in seven regions of Turkey. Survey (scanning) method has been selected in the study among descriptive models. The primary school students have been selected as the population of the study, the working group has been identified by means of clustering sampling with the purpose of composing a probabilistic sampling. Having identified the findings regarding the signature knowledge of the students, it was understood that there are missing information about the way of signing, responsibility of signing and e-signature although many students agree on the fact that the signature is private. More than half of the participants do not have information about which pen should be used while signing, and about the legal responsibility of signature. The data, which have been obtained with the participation of 600 primary students, demonstrated that it is necessary to tackle the ability of signing especially in Turkish lessons as an acquisition. It is thought that the data that have been obtained in the study, will be useful for Turkish lesson teachers, content editors who organize the curriculum and researchers who study on the education of writing.
