Abstract

The objective of the present study is to determine the views of bilingual 7th grade students on the aquarium teaching technique implemented in Turkish verbal communication courses. The study group included 27 students. The study was conducted based on the qualitative research methods. Thus, an information form and semi-structured interview form were designed to obtain the views of the students. Content analysis technique was utilized for the analysis of the data obtained. Study findings demonstrated that the students in study group expressed very positive views on the aquarium applications. Thus, it was determined that 81.81% of the views expressed on aquarium talk-discussion applications, 54% of the views on cooperation in aquarium rings, 71.4% of the views on aquarium talk-discussion topics, 85.07% of the views on the improvement of Turkish verbal skills with aquarium activities were positive. The abovementioned results demonstrated that aquarium was an effective technique for the development of the affective traits of bilingual learners in Turkish verbal communication courses, and it should be utilized.
