Abstract

People communicate through the linguistic competence consisting of two essential elements, linguistic and pragmatic elements, to deliver an integrated presentation. Linguistically, the dimensions of the pragmatics are the main points of investigation of the pragmatics, and they examine the speeches at a particular time, in a particular place, and according to the expressions of the particular person or persons. Time, space, speaker and listener, as well as the intention of the speaker, the participants' background and their relation with each other come to the forefront. Examination of expressions according to the context of sentences, words and speeches gains importance from this point of view, and they become meaningful through interpretation related to the meaning of expressions during speech, content of an expression and of the reference and meaning in communication is of interest to the pragmatics to a large extent. Recently, its relationship with grammar has been focused on and their characteristics have been tried to be explained. We will try to put forward the characteristics of these two linguistic fields, which are closely related, in this article. In order to evaluate pragmatics together with grammar, it is necessary to understand grammar as a system of phonological, morphological, semantic and syntactic rules and to perceive grammar as a very abstract and formal rule system that can be applied by the principles of pragmatics during communication. However, the description and conceptualization of the production, understanding and use of speech are understood with the help of the principles of pragmatics. Thus, pragmatics gives us the opportunity to examine the language according to the usage and context, and reveals the usage characteristics of some verbal and non-verbal signs according to the social structure. In this way, grammar emphasizes pragmatics usage and functioning characteristics while showing the shape and form characteristics of languages. This gives the opportunity to examine different variables in both fields.
