Abstract

This study, which obtains literature sociology that is constructed on the notion that sometimes literature affects the political, social and economic circumstances and gives directions to them and in other cases conversely the literature itself is affected by the socio-political and economic circumstances of the society it is born in and in this context which brings literature and sociology together in the same body, aims to prove the claim that Behiç Ak’s play called Bina is mainly the criticism of the chaotic atmosphere and the lack of institutionalization in Turkey in 1980s. With this purpose, in the study this claim is justified by giving striking examples from the play; and the fact that how the occupations of being an architect and cartoonist that are the parts of writer’s versatile career have been influential on the play is focused on. Especially it is emphasized that his occupation as a cartoonist has been influential on the writer’s development of a critical attitude towards the problems in Turkey in his play.
