Abstract

The main goal of language teaching is to develop language skills (reading, listening, visual reading, writing, speaking and visual presentation) consisting of individuals' understanding and expression learning areas. The mother tongue, which was initially learned from the mother, from family and from the close circle; It is an important force that binds to each other, forming tight links between individual, society and culture. No doubt the person who will win the mother tongue affection and sensitivity of the child in the primary and secondary school stage where the basics of the mother tongue education are introduced, the mother tongue affection and the consciousness are tried to be awakened. If the teacher has consciousness and sensitivity to the mother tongue, she can model her student by using all the subtleties of the mother tongue, which can also awaken their awareness and sensitivity in their students. It is anticipated that the teachers of Turkish and Turkish Language and Literature and other branch teachers who have been teaching mother tongue teaching and the subtleties of their mother tongue should have gained this awareness and sensitivity before they have graduated from teaching institutions. However, since all graduated teacher candidates do not have the same level of mother language sensitivities and the problems that our mother tongue has experienced, in this research it was aimed to determine what the prospective teachers are aware of about the problems that our mother tongue lived intensively and what is the solution proposals for these problems. For this purpose, a survey model was used in the research. Students of the Turkish Language and Literature Department who continue to the teaching formation program in the same university as Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Education Department of Turkish Language Teaching and their sample are the third and fourth year students of the Department of Turkish Language Teaching and the students who are continuing the Turkish Language and Literature Teaching formation program form. The research is limited to the answers given by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Education related departments to the data collection material (questionnaire) consisting of open-ended questionnaires for the teacher candidates who are studying in the fall semester of 2017-2018 academic year. The open-ended questions in the data collection material were evaluated quantitatively using descriptive analysis method.
