Personal names are separate study area in the onomastics studies. Personal names can be chosen from common noun, which are turned into proper noun. Trees, which are a part of nature are studied within phytonomy in the area of onomastics. Nature is used to give names in Turkish naming tradition. In Turkish some tree names such as “ çınar, ardıç, akasya, defne, çam, kiraz “ and names of parts of trees such as “ kök, dal, budak, fidan, filiz, tomurcuk, yaprak, çiçek, çıvgın, ışgın “ can be used as person names. Issue of this study is the usage of names of part of trees, which are used as personal names in Turkey Turkish. Firstly the structural caracteristics of tree names, which are used as personal names, were examined in this study. The lineage continue with boys in Turkish culture and belief. In this context, secondly, trees names given to persons were grouped by gender and results were evaluated in the context of language-culture relationship. It has been seen that compound noun is created at most from “ kök ” and “ dal ” which are names of parts of trees. It was identified that the personal names created from names of trees are male names because of lineage continuity.
