Abstract

The purpose of this study is to specify how the Actants Model, a metaphorical analysis model proposed by Greimas, will work in the case-register story, which is acknowledged as one of the literal text types and has a different structure from a typical narrative story. The story chosen for the analysis is Saatler by Sabahattin Kudret Aksal. The reason for choosing this story is that the contradictions of the story is highly involved and the contradictions have an important place in semiotic analysis. In the study, a discoursive and narrative analysis experiment is made according to the levels of semiological analysis. At the discoursive level, narrative persons, time and space are discussed; at the narrative level, the story is divided into sections and analyzed according to the situation and transformations of the subject and object. Thus, the structure of the text from the surface to the deep is revealed. As a result of this study it is revealed that the fiction of the narrative is based on contradictions and it is determined that meaning can be reached more easily when it is examined semantically.
