Abstract
Dinleme; diğer dil becerilerine temel oluşturan, sosyal hayatın içinde en çok kullanılan beceri alanı olmasına karşın üzerinde yeterince çalışma yapılmamıştır. Bu çalışma, dinleme alanında üzerinde çok durulmayan dinleme sürelerini ortaokul çoğunlukla Türkçe öğretmenlerinin görüşlerine dayanarak ele alıp ortalama bir süre öngörebilmek ve sınıf düzeylerine göre öğrencilerin dinlemeyi daha çok tercih ettiği metin türlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma betimsel olup tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak anket kullanılmıştır. Yapılan anket çalışmasında 119 öğretmene ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre dinleme aralıkları 5 ve 6.sınıflarda 10-15 dakika, 7 ve 8.sınıflarda 15-20 dakika olarak belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin dinlemeyi en çok tercih ettikleri metin türü olarak ise 5.sınıfların fabl; 6, 7 ve 8.sınıfların ise hikaye olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Abstract
Although listening is the skill field most used, forming the basis for other language skills, enough studies haven’t been done on it. This study was carried out to predict the average time by considering the listening time not emphasized much in the field of listening, mostly based on the opinions of Middle school Turkish teachers and to determine the types of texts students prefer listening to more according to their grade level. The study is descriptive and the scanning model was used. Questionnaire was used as data collection tool. 119 teachers were reached in the survey conducted. According to the data obtained, listening intervals was determined as 10-15 minutes in the 5th and 6th grades and 15-20 minutes in 7th and 8th grades. It has been concluded it is fable for 5th graders and story for the other graders as the type of text students prefer listening most.
