Abstract
Johannes Vermeer, Hollanda’nın Altın Çağı’nda, en zengin ve güçlü olduğu XVII. yüzyılda yaşamış bir Barok dönem ressamıdır. “İnci Küpeli Kız” Hollandalı ressam Johannes Vermeer’in başyapıtlarından biri olan tablodur. Adından anlaşılacağı gibi tablonun odak noktası bir inci küpedir. Tablo “Kuzeyin Mona Lisa‘sı” ya da “Hollandalı Mona Lisa” olarak da adlandırılmaktadır. Vermeer’in bu tablosu birçok sanat yapıtına da ilham kaynağı olmuştur. Vermeer’e bu resmi çizdiren gücün ne olduğu kimden ilham aldığı XVII. yüzyıldan bu yana gizemini korumaktadır. İncelemenin konusunu da teşkil eden “İnci Küpeli Kız” adlı romanında Amerikalı yazar Tracy Chevalier tüm bu sorulara yanıt vermeye çalışmaktadır. Chevalier 1999’da yayımlanan ve resimle aynı adı taşıyan kitabında, Vermeer’in tablosundaki kızın kim olduğunu, ressamın niye model olarak onu seçtiğini, niçin böyle büyük bir inci küpe taktığını ve daha birçok soruyu yaratıcı roman kurgusunda yanıtlamaya çalışmaktadır. 2003’te çekilen İnci Küpeli Kız filmi de yine bu kitaba dayanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Chevalier tarafından yazılan kitabın insan çevirisi ve makine çevirisi bağlamında incelemesi yapılacaktır. Konuyu daha iyi açıklamak adına öncelikle edebi çeviri, makine çevirisi hakkında bilgi verilecek, romanın Gökçen Ezber tarafından yapılan Türkçe çevirisi Google ve Yandex çeviri ile karşılaştırılacak, çeviride insan faktörünün rolü gözlemlenecektir. Bu çalışmanın amacı önemli ve iz bırakan sanatsal yapıtların farklı açılardan incelenmesini sağlamak, sanatın insan dünyasındaki ve çevirideki farklı yansımalarını ve insan faktörünün etkisini somut göstergeleriyle sunmaktır.

Abstract
Johannes Vermeer(1632-1675) is a Baroque period painter who lived during the Golden Age of the Netherlands when the country was at its richest and most powerful. “The girl with the Pearl Earring” is one of the masterpieces of Dutch painter Vermeer. As the name suggests, the focal point of the tableau is the pearl earring. The painting is also called” the Mona Lisa of the North “or “Mona Lisa of the Netherlands". This painting by Vermeer has also been a source of inspiration for many works of art. It still remains a mystery what motivated Vermeer to make this painting and who he had been inspired by. In his novel “The Girl with the Pearl Earring”, which is also the subject of this study, the American writer Tracy Chevalier tries to address all these questions. In his 1999 book of the same name as the tableau, Chevalier tries to answer questions about who the girl in Vermeer's painting is, why the artist chose her as a model, why she wore such a large pearl earring, and many other questions, within the fictional world of the creative novel. The movie version, Girl With Pearl Earring, which was produced in 2003, is also based on this book. In this study, an examination of the book will be made within the context of human translation and machine translation. In order to explain the subject better, first, some information about literary translation and machine translation will be given; then, the Turkish translation of the novel made by Gökçen Ezber will be compared with Google and Yandex translation for the purpose of observing the role of the human factor in translation. The purpose of this study is to examine from different perspectives influential literary works that give inspiration, while at the same time providing concrete examples for various reflections of art in translation, the human society, and the role of the human factor.
