Abstract

Looking at the reality of the child, the reality of the child means to catch the reality of the child's world and the reality he sees. Textbooks are an important educational tool in providing quality and modern education in our rapidly changing and developing world day by day. Because textbooks are one of the most important materials that can be easily reached by every student who creates awareness for the child in education and training. The stories in Turkish textbooks are also literary texts which are read by the child. In this study, children who have a narrative narration from the texts of the first grade Turkish textbook of the Ministry of National Education published in the 2017-2018 academic year were examined and the reality of the children was searched. In the narrative texts examined, it was seen that the events in the world of adults, where the reality of children were not sufficiently given, were given more information to the children, and the reality of these texts was more adult reality. When the children cannot find anything in their own worlds in the texts they read, they probably develop a negative perspective against the reading action and also do not accept the impositions of the adult world. In the books they receive, it is normal for the children to see the reality of adults instead of their reality in the texts they appear to be boring. For this reason, it is important that children's reality is handled in the works written for children and attention to the principle of relativity to the child.
