Abstract

The main function of teaching Turkish is to contribute to students’ cognitive, emotional and kinetic improvement; to create an opportunity for the individual to express himself easily by enhancing linguistic awareness and sensitivity. For this reason, monther language education is an issue to be taken into consideration. Although kids have been learning Turkish for years, they are not able to use their native language successfully, they have difficulties in expressing themselves, they can not taste richness of the speech entity. Individual’s ability of expressing himself lies in his understanding the details of the language strongly. In this point, variable techniques should be used in teaching a language. With the developing and changing situations of the age, new materials have been designed and new techniques have been used. New, modern materials and methods, which are to be used in understanding the structural features of the language in all areas from its phonetics to morphology, from word order to semantics, will turn the teaching language into learning it by having fun. The importance of adjectives in the language usage area is has an undeniable degree. Adjectives have an important role in terms of speech richness of Turkish and they help terms to be pictured in mind in the expected forms. He, who is not able to reach the speech richness of the adjectives, will not be able to use of Turkish in a expected level. In this point, the issue, how to teach the adjectives having a great importance for Turkey Turkish, arises. In this study; how to teach the adjectives, which enrich the speech and display the features and indicators of the objects, and the effects of story telling methods in this topic have been analysed.
