Abstract

This work utilizes the immigration literature in Germany to deal with the influence of immigration on editing one of basic elements of literature, the woman, as an ideological metaphor. Immigration expands its influence on areas of life especially in Middle East and literature is not an exception. This requires to question the view that immigration literature adopts on woman, as it gives a central role to woman. What does immigration change in view of woman who is an object of patriarchal ideology, and how does literature approach these changes? This work elaborates on these and alike questions and focuses on ?influence areas of immigration literature in combination of with an examination of ideological dimensions of immigration literature and ends with construction of woman as an ideological object. It seems that immigration acts as a background in construction of woman as an ideolological metaphor, transforms the image of woman, however, does not extend beyond the sexist discourse.  In parallel to this, it is understood that immigration literature can not go beyond the sexist approach of modernist discourse and can not free itself from the boundaries of tradition. Woman changes place by immigration, constructs a new identity, yet still can not break free herself from political, cultural and sexist thoughts. Woman, who is portrayed as dependant on man and imprisoned in sexual codes in Turkish-German literature, is generally depicted as a tragic figure of immigration trauma. This traditional ideological attitude is supported by smilar metaphors and schematic depiction in texts.
