Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine how the creative drama activities affected the views of parents on the concept of horizontal identity. With respect to such an aim qualitative research design was used with a study group consisted of 12 teachers, 9 of whom were female and 3 of whom were male, and whose ages ranged from 30 to 63. The participants were purposively selected depending on their marital and parental status. In the process which had two steps, a data collection tool consisting 8 open-ended questions was used in semi-structured interviews. In the first step, without giving any information related to the horizontal identity the first six questions in data collection tool were asked to identify the present situations of the participants. In the second step, all the questions in the data collection tool including the 7th and 8th questions were asked to the participants at the end of the 21-hour-instructional period. Depending on the analysis of the collected data it was found out that the parents learned the concept of horizontal identity via the creative drama activities, and they started to understand the emotions and opinions of people discriminated from society.
